Sauvignon Gris in Australia

by Wes

Wes asks

Are you aware of anyone in Australia growing Sauvignon Gris? My own searches have turned up nowt.

Darby Says
You've got me there Wes. I don't know of anyone, but immediately you ask this sort of question someone pops up with an answer.

I just noticed that Sauvignon rose is listed as one of the varieties in the CSIRO's Grapevine Variety Collection

I'll post a query on Facebook etc and see what comes up.

Maybe a reader can help, and comment below.

Sauvignon Gris

Larry Cherubino Wines grow Sauvignon Gris from the Channybearup Vineyard at Pemberton, Western Australia.
The variety is used as a component in the Laissez Faire Field Blend. I know of no other plantings in Australia.

You can read reviews of the 2014 and 2015 Cherubino Laissez Faire Field Blend wines on my wine blog under October 2015 in the Blog Archive.

Can't help with Aus SG but there are two wineries producing that here in NZ

Brancott Estate “R” Renwick Marlborough Sauvignon Gris 2010

Clearview Reserve Sauvignon Gris 2010

Others are blending SB and PG but not the same thing eh?
