The Sicilian name for Muscat of Alexandria. In Australia it is grown under the name of Zibibbo by Crabtree of Watervale in the Clare Valley.



This red grape variety is widely grown in California. It is beleived to be the same the same variety as the Italian variety Primitivo. It makes a wide variety of wine styles from sweet roses to rich, fruity reds.

As Primitivo in Italy the variety has traditionally been grown in Puglia to produce bulk blending wine. In recent years more attention has been paced on producing higher quality varietal wines.

In Australia Zinfandel is a minor variety which is gaining popularity. The most notable Zins are produced by Cape Mentelle in the Margaret River Region of Western Australia and by Nepenthe in the Adelaide Hills.
