How do I pronounce Savagnin?

by Jackie Cavill

As a volunteer, I read for 990 6RPH Information Radio (Radio for the print handicapped) in Perth and one of my programs, called Off the Vine usually includes Tim White's wine column from the Aust Fin Review. Today I read a piece (almost word for word the same as your article) but was not sure of the pronunciation of Savagnin. I imagine it's similar to Sauvignon but IN at the end could be IN or AN??? Please confirm for me.

Thanks very much

Darby Says.

The word is French so you could argue that in the correct pronounciation is AN, like Vin is pronounced Van.

Not all words of French origin are pronounced accurately however, so there in a case that you could pronounce it to rhyme with Vin.

Sorry about the color contrast isse. I am having a little problem with my CSS which has been ocvershadowed by a bigger problem I have with Telsta
