Differences between McLaren Vale region compared to other regions.

I'm doing an assignment for a T.A.F.E course on McLaren Vale and have a question about how the wine style of McLaren Vale grapes compare to similar grape wine styles around Australia and the world.
Any assistance with references if possible would be greatly appreciated.

Darby says: The first reference for most questions about Australian regions the bets place to start is Gladstones' Wine and Environment, sadly out of print but your library should have it. Hallidays Wine Atlas of Australiagives some sort of background as well.

Any other teachers, or ex teachers want to help Andrew with his assignment?
