Calabria Private Bin Saint Macaire

Calabria Private Bin Saint Macaire is a red wine made in the Riverina from an unusual grape variety. Saint Macaire is an extremely rare variety from the Bordeaux region France.

It seems to be almost extinct in France, but in 2009 I saw a couple of specimens in a vine collection in Montesquieu. There seems to just a hectare or so in existence.

St macaire wine from calabria family wines in the Riverina region

Calabria Family Wines have been using this variety for a number of years.

They are doing it well. Last year they won the Trophy for Best Young Red Other Varieties at the NSW Awards.

You won't believe the price!!

Calabria Family wines make a range of alternative varietal wines from the Riverina and from the cooler Hilltops Region of NSW.

Check out their range at Vinodiversity's wine partner.
