Alternative Varieties - 2006 Vintage

Guidelines for contributors

Vinodiversity is compiling vintage reports for alternative grape varieties for the 2006 vintage. Growers and makers are invited to make comments on their 2006 vintage. The information will be used as pages on the Vinodversity website and as items in Vinodiversity's internet newsletters and blogs (weblogs) over the coming months.

We are only intersested in non traditional varietes, including verdelho, chenin blanc, grenache, sangiovese, pinot grigio, viognier as well as the less common varieties. Perhaps you have some vermentino, lagrein or gruner veltliner about to be released, or maybe you have just discovered that your merlot is really carmenere...

Some of the information in the comments might include

  • whether this is your first vintage from each variety
  • is your production increasing from new plantings or are you using older vines
  • an initial assessment of fruit quality, perhaps in comparison to previous years
  • any difficulties with disease, bad weather, pests etc
  • what will you be doing with the fruit, ie straight varietal or blending, co-fermentation, making red, white, rose, or sparkling
  • when you expect to release wine from alternative varieties
  • other information that may be of interest

Please make your information as brief or as long as you like (within reason, say less than 1500 words at the extreme) Short reports will be included in more comprehensive regional and varietal pages. Longer well written reports will be published as feature articles. I will edit the articles slightly for minor typos or to include some keywords.

Avoid hard edged sales copy. Providing useful information is a more effective strategy for successful websites.

What's in it for you? Vinodiversity is read by a small but growing group of wine enthusiasts. They are active wine buyers and have shown an interest in alternative varieties. Your contribution will be fully acknowledged and a link constructed back to your website. This is a proven method of increasing interested traffic and sales on your site. I hope this can contribute to your overall sales effort.

What's in it for Vinodiversity? Our readers keep coming back for more information. They demand up-to-date quality content and I know this is an effective way to give it to them.

I hope it's a win-win situation. Your report will be published on the Vinodiversity 2006 Vintage Reports section.
